Why we love Poole

Poole is famous for its harbourside views, its amazing history and as a top tourist spot in Dorset. After you’ve had a brilliant meal with us, there’s plenty to see!

For one of the best spots that’s so close you can see it from our restaurant, try Holes Bay Nature Park – you won’t find anywhere better for birdwatching, with a paved cycle and walking route between Poole town centre and Upton Country Park. It’s so good it’s even part of the Great Heath Living Landscapes with Dorset Wildlife Trust.

Poole Harbour is a large natural harbour and one of the most scenic spots in Dorset. Poole Harbour covers about 36 km2 (14 sq mi), making it one of the contenders for second largest natural harbour in the world. It’s all the more impressive when you visit in person and see the waves rolling past, perfect for a night time stroll after dinner with us.

Sandbanks is known as ‘Britain's Palm Beach’ and it’s not hard to see why. Sandbanks is a small peninsula on the mouth of Poole Harbour, famous for its award-winning beach and great views. Nearby Canford Cliffs is known as an area of natural beauty too, perfect for burning off a big lunch or dinner.

Brownsea Island is across the harbour and has spectacular views across to the Purbeck Hills. It's also full of woodlands, heathlands and a lagoon that’s formed a haven for wildlife, such as the rare red squirrel and a wide variety of birds, including dunlin, kingfishers, common and sandwich terns and oystercatchers. There are free trails across the island to explore, with new natural play areas and fantastic picnic spots. It’s the perfect family adventure and a great idea for a day trip.
